The story is about the boy named Jan. His mother died when she gave birth to him, and that’s the reason why his father does not treat him as his child. He’s always being punished and blamed by Khun Luang (his father) for being the reason why his wife died. Since then, Jan was also called a ‘bastard’. The cousin of his mother, Waad, made him feel the love of a mother. She is the one Jan run to whenever Khun Luang hurts him. Years passed, his father and Aunt Waad had a baby, which was named KhunKeow. His sister was very spoiled by his father, that is why Khun Keow also hates him. Jan just continued his life without being affected by the discrimination inside their house. Jan met Hyacinth, his true love. They had been on, but nothing intimate happened to them because Jan respects Hyacinth. Jan was accused of trying to molest Khun Keow, so Khun Luang and he had a confrontation which led to Khun Luang to ask Jan to leave the house. Jan went to his grandfather where he found out the real thing that happened to his mother. Aunt Waad told him the truth that he was not a real child of Khun Luang. His mother and Khun Luang were forced to be married because his mother got pregnant, so as to avoid embarrassment. Jan was ordered by Jhun Luang to return home immediately. He was about to marry Khun Keow, who, like his mother got pregnant. When Khun Keow gave birth, she cursed the child, and that is why her child did not grow normal. Khoon Bounleuang, the other woman of Khun Luang had also make love with Jan before, but when they were doing it again, Khun Luang caught them and that’s the reason why Khun Luang had a stroke. There had been war and all of them hide in their underground, except Khun Keow and Khoon B. Jan looked for them and found out that they were having sex. Khun Keow was a lesbian. Jan forced Khun Keow to make love with him so that he can have his own child. But Khun Keow killed the child in her tummy, she aborted it with the help of Khoon B. Things happen and things change to this different individuals. Khoon B. became closer to the lord. Aunt Waad became a nun. Khun Keow became and act a boy. Kun Luang was still in bed and the only sign that he was alive was his breathing. Jan, who already knew the truth, that a group of man raped his mother, will always remember the things that happened to him.Jan Dara is a Thai film. An explosive one. The story is very unique. It is about the family of Jan Dara. Their pleasures and how their lives revolve around sex. Finding love because his father treat him like a bastard, Jan got involved to different characters that taught him lessons in life and satisfied the love that his finding. Incest, Passion, and love are the theme of this film. The direction of the film is circular. It is not the common type of story-telling. It is not even a usual type of circular story. Jan is the story-teller or narrator. He speaks to the viewers, telling them his sentiments, experiences and life. The characters are being introduced by showing their photo and name. Every time there is a new character that comes in Jan’s life, the characters are being introduced by this. The cinematography is also nice. Every camera angle, every lighting, every audio, fits in every scene and as well as in the theme of the story. I like the scene where Jan was walking and suddenly changes from being an adult to teenager to child and then to baby. It is very touching because it interprets the bad experiences Jan had. The lighting is also suited to the story of the film. It is not colorful, because the theme of it is not colorful or lively as well.
